Has anyone had to work around a physcial/mobility problem with your Motorhome. For instance you require something to assist you in walking, or a wheelchair. Just asking as I am looking at a future that I may need something to assit me from A to B.

I have seen a gasser or two, with the center doorway, which was modified wider to accept a wheel chair. One, I believe had a lift attached to the side of the rig. I can't imagine any of that would be inexpensive to have done and you'd have to be careful of width limitations, given that many class A's are near maximum allowed width already.

Some of the toy hauler class A's already have a hydraulic lift at the rear but I am not sure about interior door widths and other handicap needs that you may require.

Winnebago will build a unit with extra wide doors, roll in shower, & a lift that slides under the floor. Lots of disabled information on the Handicap travel club site. Their motto is: GOAL, Get out and live.

If interested in a modified Toy Hauler, I just had a great experience with Dutchmen making a Voltage 3600 for me. I had them install grab bars in various locations throughout the RV. That was the extent of the modifications, but I get around on crutches when I'm not using my prosthetic. The lower end of my 5'ver is fairly accessible when the slides are out. But if you need a no kidding fully wheel chair accessible TH, you may have to do more research.

I am hoping with doing what you have done that I will be able to balance and get from A to B in a motorhome...if it comes to a wheelchair, then I will cross that bridge when it comes. But we felt a toy hauler might be the easiest to do the changes to...as long as one could get up the ramp in the back, have a door put in to get from the back into the actual living area, and there ya go. Whatever happens and is needed, refuse to have long time plans derailed.

I have seen MH's advertised for sale that were equipped for the disabled, complete with a lift at the entry door. Suggest you do searches of various websites, including Ebay, RVNet and others. Never can tell what you may find. Perhaps someone has already had one modified or built that just fits your needs. I am quite sure it would cost a lot less if you do not have to buy new and have it modified.

Newmar now makes their Canyon Star in a wheelchair accessible floor plan. I haven't seen a lot of discussion about it, so I sent you a PM with a link to the website.
