We are new to RVing and should be taking posession of a used Class A later this week. We are wanting to take our first weekend with it fairly close to home (within an hour preferrably). We're considering (from "search" of St Louis in old posts) Babler St Pk, Rend Lake, Randolph Co. Lake, Meremac St Pk. Any other suggestions from anyone before we make our final plans?

I just made reservations at Red Barn Rendezvous Park in Edwardsville, Il to use as a base for our visit to St. L later next month. Got it from www.rvparksreview.com. Haven't stayed there before but it seems to have gotten decent reviews.

We really enjoy Edmund Babler State Park. Big sites, manicured grass and convenient to the expressway to downtown. Have a great trip!

If you want full hookups for this trip, we like the St Louis West KOA in Eureka MO, or there is a KOA in Stanton that good reviews.

Personally, I'd get out of SLMO and head to Rend Lake or Lake Carlyle. Some very nice campgrounds in that area and you aren't urban camping.

Babler is good. So is Cuivre River east of Troy. Cuiver River has full hookups available.

Thanks for everyone's input. I think we've decided to try Babler State Park. It will be close enough that if we forget something major we're not too far from home, and it looks like a great little area. I'll let you know how it goes. Wish us luck. LOL

Personally, I would have gone somewhere with full hookups to give everything a good trial and test, especially since you are buying a used unit.
