I posted the other day about a bad smell coming from the front storage and the large side storage from a used 5th wheel we just purchased. We have not gotten a chance to clean those again, I have been working on cleaning the inside. My husband has had the doors open to the storage areas. This morning when I went out there, the smell was very mild. I was working on cleaning the inside, running the water, The smell is so bad right now, I can smell it as soon as I come out of the house, I can even smell it in the back yard. Do you think I have a leek somewhere in the gray tank? I am so made right now!!!! I'm thinking these people know that this was a problem.

Well its too late to take the unit back. Keep cleaning and cleaning and just let it air out. Lots of Lysol/Pinesol, whatever it takes , just keep at it. Is it a "sewer" type smell? May have a plugged and broken vent stack that is venting all that sewer gas thru the trailer.

The smell is more on the outside of the trailer. I NEVER TAKE ADVANGE OF ANYONE,and it really hurts when someone does it to me. I need to find out where this is coming from it needs to be fixed.

Yeah..I hear you. Its happened to me too! If I sell something I answer any and all questions truthfully. But now that you have the unit you'll just have to persevere. Where on the trailer does it smell the most? Did you check underneath?
Can you describe the smell?

Could it be a animal that got in somewhere and died? I have heard of this happening.

dbbls, I don't think that it's an animal, the smell was very mild almost gone until I ran the water.
SWD, To me it smells like gray water, and that would make sense, since it was worst when I was running the water inside to clean. The funny thing is that I smell it the most in the storage unit under the pin and the large one next to it, but there is no water spots anywhere.

Hi,

Is it a sulfur smell? If so, one of the "house" batteries may be over charging or failing in some way.

I would clean the tanks too. That will rule them out. If it smells worse when you run the water, it could be the fresh water system that needs a cleaning.

Hi,

"until I ran the water". Sometimes hot water tanks develop a very bad smell. The water may smell like sulfur.

Drain down the system completely and sanitize it.
