Id love to see you get a hold of a current Verizon 4G/3G 4620 Mifi and test it against the Sprint. You can signup with Verizon for a 2 week trial, if you dont like it return the mifi at a minimal cost of about $30.00.
I was born in Great Falls, Mt. My parents moved when I was 5. I found them when I was 10 - they were in California.
In our case we use a WifiRanger Pro router when we need to share access. The test above was with the Novetel USB760 plugged directly into my pc and the Mifi sitting on the table just using the PC built-in wireless.
I posted the Verizon/Millenicom comparison results since this was the first time I've had an opportunity to do a direct comparison of the two using identical equipment, same tower, etc. I was glad to see virtually no difference in the speeds and ping times, suggesting that Millenicom customers receive the same service as Verizon direct customers.
Although you changed the modem (Novetel U760 vs Verizon) you it doesnt appear you changed service based on the result capture information. It appears you only changed hardware. That is likely why you dont see any difference.
Been lots of places where there was not wireless service, including Verizon. AT&T has never done well for me, in fact can't get a AT&T cell signal in my stick house in NYS. Satellite might seem like a solution, but in lots of campgrounds you need to get through the tree canopy.
I think the whole "secret" is that the providers have badly "over sold" their bandwidth. My 3g worked faster than my 4g does today. Same provider. I wish I had just stayed with the 3g.
What might be an idea would be to have a wireless modem from a CDMA provider (Sprint, Verizon, MetroPCS, Virgin Mobile, Boost), and a wireless modem from a GSM provider (T-Mobile, AT&T.) That way, if you can't get a good connection from one network of towers, you likely can find something the other way.
Of course, the best is satellite, but that is $$$$.
Might consider Clearwire if you are in their 4G coverage area. UNLIMITED 4G about $60.00 a Month and NO CONTRACT. I use about 50-60 GB a month. I am a very satisfied customer going on two years.
