I thought the factory was supposed to fix your height issues over a year ago.

The general consensus has always been min 6".

I have 7" and hit once due to driver error involving a 'shallow' ditch. The dent's not a bad one but it's enough to be a constant reminder.

Hard to get the 6" minimum with the new heavy duty trucks these days...

6" here, too. Have had one occasion where there was less than 1" left on one corner during a tricky backup maneuver, so more is best IMHO.

6" good 8" better. I have about 7"

Just keep in mind that you should NOT go over 13' 6" in overall height. 5ers don't like bridges if they are over that!. Doesn't help matters any when truck mfrs keep putting larger tires in them.
