Any of your thoughts will help! Although very new & under warranty my water pump is not working. I checked the fuse & that's not the problem. The switch light turns red as it's supposed to when on but nothing happens. I'll have to take it in for service before my next trip but thought maybe someone out there could give me some insite to this problem. joe

Loose connection would be my guess. Wiggle all the wires around the pump and see if it comes on...... I was fighting that same issue for a while and finally tracked it down to a poorly installed wire nut........ :-(

Defective pump? Broken wire? Loose connector someplace between the switch and the pump? Bad ground?
Have you checked for power at the pump? That's where I'd start... 2 minutes with a multimeter or 12V test light and the problem would be narrowed-down...
My guess is you have either a bad connection or the micro switch on it is bad but I would go after the wire nut connections first.
Debris in the water will make it continue to run and running it dry will not damage it, even after many hours.

The list of possibilities goes on and on and really no way to diagnose it by guessing. They are pretty tough so not likely the owner could do ANYTHING that would damage the pump but some are just defective.

X2; confirm it is not running, if it is running and just no water, check the filter on the inlet of the pump, it may look clean but it just does not take much for it to restrict the suction. The screen could just have an almost invisible film on it which is enough, happened to me.

If so, I apologize, just trying to ascertain the facts.
When you turn a faucet on, nothing happens, right?
Yes, I know, MOST people are aware that the pump operates "on demand", but some folks are NOT aware of that, thus the question.
Assuming that IS the situation, that when a faucet is turned on there is no water flow and the pump does not start, then:
1. Blown fuse between the switch and the pump (the OP has stated that the light in the switch turns on, so the interruption can't be before the switch)
2. Stuck pressure switch at the pump
3. A loose connection at or near the pump. These connectors are usually butt splices, and if not properly crimped will either be loose or may have cut the wires.
4. Bad armature bearings in the pump motor
5. Bad brushes in the pump motor
6. It is possible but unlikely that there could be foreign material in the pump jamming the action.
7. The switch could be bad, turning the light on but not furnishing power to the pump.
Troubleshooting:
1. Using a multimeter, verify that there is power at the pump.
2. If there is power at the pump, verify that the pressure switch is closing, and power is going to the motor.
3. Disconnect the output line at the pump to ensure that there is no residual pressure stopping the pump from working.
4. If there is power to the pressure switch, and through the pressure switch to the motor, and there is no residual pressure, I would replace the pump.
