We are planning a trip to a chess tourney in Wheeling Ill. Does anyone know of a good RV camping site? Most post are focused on the west and south of Chicago.
Thank you

I will have to PM you as we live about 5 miles south of Wheeling. There are a few spots but will have to look them up again for more details.

Illinois Beach State Park, in Zion. It was closed all last season after a severe storm knocked down a good percentage of their trees. Not sure if it's reopened yet.

On edit: Chain O' Lakes State Park; it's a bit further north and west of Zion.

Illinois Beach S.P. is probably your best bet. Campground reopened a couple of weeks ago. Pretty easy to get to Wheeling from there, straight shot down the tollway (294) or Milwaukee Ave. (41). Maybe 1/2 hr to 45 min depending on time of day & traffic.
