Update: I'm worried about unhooking. I had almost no tension on the hitch and everything was unhooked. When I went to pull away the whole TT shook a bit. It wasn't a big deal but I'm worried when I'm on a very uneven campsite. Is this normal?
I'm trying to plan my installation of the HA I purchased off craigslist.
1. How long should I plan on the install taking? (took my sweet time - almost 6 hours - semi-entertaining kids concurrently)
2. Do most people have to move their propane tanks? (I had to ... along with my trailer disconnect wire)
3. Should I just assume I'll need the chain and cord extensions? (electric is fine but my chains are short - can I just buy chain and link connectors at Home Depot?)
4. Should I buy the Hitch Helper? (still thinking about this - we camp at a lot of state parks which aren't usually a straight shot)

1. If you know the hitch real well it might be 2 - 3 hours for the install. Do it at home or on level ground
2. Yes propane tanks move or sometimes the battery box needs to move. This took the most time.
3. Assume only one chain extension if you redo the existing chain. I can explain how. Some of the new Hensley boxes have the cord extension in the box.
4. I don't use the Hitch Helper but if you want one then I can sell you mine that has not been used at all.
Since you are in SE Mich then PM me and maybe I can help you with the install. Did one a couple of weeks ago for a friend.

Thanks everyone. I will have to move the TT to the street to work on it so I wanted to make sure I left myself ample time and was prepared.

2 or 3 hours to install.
You should not have to move your propane tanks
You will probably need chain and cord extensions.
You should buy the hitch helper as I've found that very useful.
Hope that helps,

Couple of hours like others have said.
Didnt have to move the LP tanks on old trailer but did on the current one
Needed chain extensions but no plug extensions on either trailer
I use to have a hitch helper. They are ok. I dont have or use it anymore

2. Do most people have to move their propane tanks? Not in my experience
3. Should I just assume I'll need the chain and cord extensions? No, do install first, then size any extensions if needed
4. Should I buy the Hitch Helper? No

1. Installed mine in 2 hours. Fairly straight forward. Did my buddies next in less than 2hrs.
2. Every trailer is different with regards to propane and battery placement. Didn't have to move either of mine, buddy had to move both.
3. You'll likely need the chain extenders and plug unless yours are exceptionally long.
4. Had a hitchhiker, never used it so I sold it. The head of the Hensley is moveable left/right/up/down etc so if you're not lined straight up it's not a big deal. Just shift the head, it's easier than a conventional hitch.

If it doesn't want to let go, adjust your WD struts a little bit. It is most likely that there is a little binding between the hitch and the coupler. It's happened to me a couple times.
