And what rocket scientist put my water, tanks and cable mid ships? Or why don't they design CG's just for my rig?

I moved on with extensions for everything.

I have one of these 50 amp Marinco adaptors, just be advised that if your RV receptable is NOT installed at just the right position, the 90 degree adaptor will not hang the way you think it will. I found this out after purchasing this 95.00 dollar item...mine is off 90 degree's. Of course I could attempt to turn the receptable on my MH but after carefully examining the project....it wasnt worth the effort. I still use it because it is a one piece formed Cord and it still relieves the strain...it just looks kinda funky. Just for kicks....I did see one on craigslist yesterday for 50.00(Ventura, Ca area) that had only been used twice!

Very valuable information - thanks!! I never thought of that but it would be a shot in the dark as to how it will hang.

Only a few times have has had my cord, located DS rear been "to short".

However as a MH owner I've had a number of opportunites to reverse park in a site for the much better view. So my various extensions have more than paid for themselves.

I'm told that the reason for the rear mount plug is that sooner or later, you'll start to tow without disconnecting power. That lets the power cord pop free without ripping up the trailer. I question whether a 90 degree plug would release before tearing out the female plug in the trailer.

I agree with someone earlier that suggested you try it out first before worrying about spending $100 on a 'fix' that you may not need. I've been using my 50 amp straight plug for 2+ years, maybe 50 nights, with no wish for a 90 degree plug. I DID get a short cord that attaches directly, with only about two feet of cord, which ends with a 30 amp plug that I use when only 30 amp is available, as I have a 25 ft. 30 amp cord. 50 amp cords are a pain, especially if it is cold when you are breaking camp. You will probably want some kind of adapter to go from 50 amp to 30 amp, as not all campgrounds offer 50 amp.

That's good for fire trucks, but I can't believe that would be the manufacturers reason or they wouldn't use twistlock and lock ring marine receptacles. I think if I forgot to unplug it would probably rip the entire rear fiberglass clip off mine, window and license plate and all

I did run into a spot in CO that had the pedestal clear in the front and my plug is in the back. The owner saw me fidgeting and she came out with an extension and a smile. She said she keeps about 5 extension cords on hand just for that reason.

I agree as this isn't a household plug that someone pulls out - it's a twist lock plug. A typo I assume? As the RV would have a male plug.

This post has been well worth it for me. I have not seen a 2013 version of this Silverback model and as OAKMAN stated, maybe mine will be mounted on the side also. I also did not know or think about the fact that the RV male side may be mounted to cause the 90 degree to hang something other than straight down. And its good to hear that others have a rear mount and have not had a problem. So common sense now says just wait and see if I actually have a problem
