We are planning to be in Florida in January of next year to attend the Daytona 500. I would appreciate any help I could get on where to stay while at the race and where to stay in Miami and the Keys. Thanks in advance.

Ok, first off the keys....Blue Water Key RV resort is one of the finest I've ever been at. All the sites are great but the ocean front one's are really special. Each site has a tiki hut and some like the one we rented had a large screen TV, refrigerator, sink, furniture and they all have docks on the ocean. Again, this is the finest private park. The state parks are wonderful too but they book up early as do all the sites in the keys. The only down side is it is a bit pricey but the ride (it's at mile marker 14) is easy to downtown key west.
Miami...we always stay at miami everglades park. Very nice, clean, great pool and hot tub, walking track around the camp is a mile long and there are lots of activities.
For Daytona, we had lots of folks stay in St. Augustine that where going to the Daytona 500. We where there for 6 weeks and our stay overlapped the race. My favorite campground is Bryn Mawr.....don't listen to the reviewers but you do need to pick your site carefully. It is right on the ocean and all the ocean front sites or the pull thru sites are big enough for the biggest coaches (mine is 45 feet long with 4 slides. The interior sites are very hard to navigate so you want to pony up the extra money and get one near the ocean. On RVparkreviews.com I just posted a review that gives all the sites that are very easy to get into. Make reservations early though because they always fill up on the race weekend. When we left construction began on the new heated pool, hot tub and shower facilities. This is not a fancy campground but the beach access makes it really special.

We were very happy with the Encore resort in Ormond Beach. It's the only one we have any experience with in the Daytona area.

Actually there is one a few yards off the track property at turn 4 .. very easy walk to the stands and you don't have to mess with traffic after the race. It's web site is here

We were in Miami in February and stayed at the Larry and Penny Thompson Campground (305-232-1049). We thought it was very nice, large spaces, full hookups and a lot of nice people.
When we went to the Keys on this same trip we had trouble finding a space even when we started looking 6 months in advance, found a private lot for rent at the Venture Out Resort on Cudjo Key. Expensive but it was a nice resort.

During race week in Daytona people are scattered over a 50 mile radius from Daytona. That includes RV campgrounds, hotels, motels, etc. Obviously, the closer to Daytona you are the more you're going to pay. The track is just off I-95 and is also close to I-4. We live in Titusville (45 minutes south of Daytona on I-95) in The Great Outdoors, an RV resort community which has transient RV sites. One big advantage to being away from Daytona is that rates aren't raised during race week. Have fun, but count on spending a lot of money in Florida!
