I've posted this on sprinter forum, might as well post it here. Just want to share with anyone looking for a compact and comfortable camping or backpacking chair...this could be the perfect camp chair for you. The Alite Mantis chair, a new chair design from Alite (I'm not affiliated with them). This thing is so compact that it fits in the side pockets of my backpack and perfect for smaller RV's where space is at a premium.

The chair (inside carrying pouch) next to a 2 liter soda bottle for size comparison.

Kinda pricy at $120. Also notice no old goats used as models. Looks like it would be hard to get out of.

I like your website with information and modifications of your SS.

They are planning on a new Sprinter in 2013 with 30 mpg and 4 WD. If it comes to fruition I will order an SS like yours.

Maybe it comes with an optional catapult.

Nice design, though!

I'd never be able to get in and out of that chair easily. After going through several chairs I finally settled on the director chair style design as the easiest to sit in and get in and out. In narrowing that down the GCI chairs fold up nicely into a compact form to store away in a Class B in many places with their telescopic design. That's the GCI Pico Telescoping chair and the GCI Xpress Lounger.

For that amount of money? I think I'd rather have this one for less:
Pico Chair

The first might be OK for backpacking but I can't see using it on a daily basis. As others have said, it's too low to the ground and It does not look like it will hold much weight or last.

Thank you, glad you liked it. I tried to post more entries to my blog, but I just don't have the time. I'm really bad at writing stuff, it takes me longer to write an entry than the actual DIY/Mod .

A 30 mpg for a sprinter that would be nice. I'm not sure about the need for AWD in a Roadtrek, except for off-roading which I don't plan on doing. There are so many things attached to the bottom of the RV that I don't want risking damaging any.

Back to the chair, the chair does sits close to the ground and some people might find it hard to get in and out of it. So it's not for everyone. Some of my friends have tried it and they have to roll-out of the chair to get out. I have tried both the CGI xpress and pico telescoping but they are not as comfortable as the Alite Mantis chair. It's available at your local REI stores, so you might wanna try it out first if it's for you. Thanks.
