We are gearing up for some short jaunts around Florida. Does anyone have ideas for 3 or 4 nights. Also looking for RV parks that have fun things to do on holidays....even Christmas. I would be glad to give some suggestions of places I have been in Florida and can recommend.

I would suggest you buy a Trailer Life directory of RV parks and campgrounds. The choices for campgrounds are numerous.

So far, I've enjoyed all the FL state parks we've visited. Jonathan Dickinson river campground is a good fit for a Sprinter and there is an interesting visitors center.

St Joseph Peninsula SP is right on the gulf and near Appalachicola for restaurants and shops.

Everglades NP has electric sites.

Fort DeSoto below Tampa Bay area is terrific.

Yeah, just start hitting the state parks close to you then keep moving out. There are also some county parks that are not well known or on Reservamerica.com that are small, nice and cheap. Larry Penny Thompson, John Prince, Jetty Park, Manatee Hammock to name a few. SOme of the Fed parks are cheap and great but many do not have AC so more of a winter deal. Juniper Springs, Alexander, etc in the Ocala Forest.

Our tradition for Christmas is Tropical Palms in Kissimmee, usually check in on Dec. 23 and leave on Dec. 26. We went through Silver River State Park in Ocala and have thought about going there for a couple of days.

There is a park in Florida called Christmas RV Park. www.christmasrvpark.com
we have never stayed there but ride thru and had a meal in their clubhouse. The people seemed friendly and the park was clean and neat. Not fancy but they do have planned activities. 1 other more fancy park near Tampa. Quail Run RV Resort. In the winter they have planned activities. In the winter their sites are pricey.

We have one of the finest state park systems in the country with many having campgrounds. There are no less than 4 state parks in the Keys with camping, the best beach state parks in the nation, some wonderful springs parks, and many unique historical and geological parks.
