We recently sold our RV and when I tried to cancel the service agreement the stalling tactics began.
The main office whose number is on the policy said they could not cancel the policy and I had to contact the dealer we bought the policy from. The dealer (Shipps RV, Camping World in Chattanooga, TN)is 90 miles away.
The operator at the dealer said the finance department had to handle this. The problem is that they never answer their extension. After leaving messages for 4 days with no return calls I called the central office again. Was told the same story to go to the dealer. When I told her the dealer was 90 miles away she reluctantly gave me a fax number to send a cancellation request letter to.
Now we will see how long it takes for them to respond to the fax and if they ever send a refund for the remaining amount.
Obviously customer service and satisfaction is of no concern to them.

Wow! I wonder what would happen if the dealer is out of business!!! We bought a rig in 2005 and had a policy on it ----- if we'd still have it and needed to contact the dealer to cancel, we'd have been X of out luck!!!!

Sounds like you're getting a big pile of "run around". If you got a hold of the wrong place THEY should have handled getting you in touch with the right one. Things like that cause a LOT of bad feelings from POTENTIAL future customers. It's the same KIND of runaround I got from Bank of America and it's hard to find ANYONE with a positive attitude toward them.

Finance dept. Did you still have a loan on it? If so, the balance of the loan will have to be paid, then the dealer should reimburse the pro rated amount.
Full timing it since July 2012 My pics

There is no loan on it.
According to the receptionist/operator the finance department handles the service agreement paperwork.

That is exactly what I went through a few years back I was told to go through the dealer I purchased the extended warranty from. the dealer kept stalling so I sent and email to The Action line which is part of the goodsam highways magazine and they sent letters to the dealer and insurance company then a few weeks later I got a call back from the dealer that my check was ready to pick up. it was for the full amount paid even though a year had gone by since I purchased the insurance?
I wonder if actionline would get involved if the insurance company was GoodSam?

I have sent the fax and mailed a letter to the dealer and will give them a week or two to respond.
After that a letter to the Action Line, complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and a call to the local TV station consumer reporter are the next step.
Companies hope you will get frustrated and give up. Consumers need to make sure that technique does not work. Companies usually respond when they are brought to the public eye like you did.
