Had a problem (snapped 17 traps) years back...laid on my back covered every square inch of the underside. Shot expandable foam in all cracks I could fined. Screwed sheet metal in the larger areas. Still ticked me off, little SOB's found way in. It ended up being the slide out thompson cylinder shafts, the manufacture bore a huge hole just for the shaft to go in & out for the slides. The mice would climb up the sewer pipe walk there way to a tire then to the frame, down the frame to the entrance hole for the shaft and made way in. I put steel wool around the shaft where it goes into the frame and the problem has vamoosed...
Good Luck,
Blessings

I go with the " The best defence is a good offence". I will not put anything such as peanut out to attract them.

Are you guys using a special kind of spray foam?
I would think they would just chew there way thru the regular old spray foam.
If i see mouse evidence, i set out the traps. I prefer the spring traps. IMHO, poisons can can also poison what eats the mouse.
Thanks for all the info on this subject, those little sob's can sure mess things up.

I checked our units when we bought them and used the expanding foam on any place I could. Never a problem until this winter when 2 got in.
Our empty plastic garbage pale with a plastic bag liner must have been up against the cupboard. They got in it but couldn't get out.Set 6 traps but no more.
An unintentional trap but it worked,

Google: "Fresh Cab"
Safe around people & pets.
Available from lots of sources.
IMO - way better than moth balls - and the odor isn't "repressive" or linger on and on and on.

Need more / other choices than the replies to this thread?.
Enter "Mice" in the search box for lots (and LOTS) more
discussions, suggestions, pros and cons of various techniques.
If that isn't enough - do the same with the search archives.
Don't limit the search to any single forum - mice are problems for
any/all types of RVs

We had critters last year and had to take EVERYTHING out of the cupboards, scrub , sanitize the shelf covering, launder everything, etc. They had a party in our fiver and invited all their friends.
We had no food but they still seemed to like our rv. I think they ate crumbs we couldn't find or get to.
We had made the mistake of putting in fancy commercial products that we thought would keep vermin out. They didn't work...so we went back to mothballs this last winter and NO MICE. Yes, we've had to air out our rv and the chemicals in the mothballs aren't healthy but neither is mouse pee and droppings.
Plus mothballs are cheap....

I have aversions to mothballs myself. My luck, I would be outside and the mice would be inside.

Just a FYI to anyone who wants to use spray foam, I wasn't aware until recently that Great Stuff sells a black colored foam. Works just like the regular stuff:

I have not had much luck with mothballs, or dryer sheets. I placed the mothballs at each jack stand and on top of the axles. So far, I have had best results with glue traps. I can catch them, but they keep coming back.
It is my theory that they enter through the bottom of the slider and make a bee line for the triple bunk. They seem to love the fabric of the mattresses, because that is the only thing they eat.
Does anyone lube the rubber seals for the slider, and is silicone spay good to use?
Has anyone found a nest in the wall/floor or by the slider?
I have crawled on my back and checked under the rv and found nothing. Will look again and do the foam thing.

I used the insulating foam (great stuff) to get every little crack filled and seemed to work pretty good so far.
please send me that CAT! We have a big mouse in our sticks and brick! He has not tripped one trap yet. Our cat just seems to watch him-and do Nothing! Maybe we will try the sticky straps, cannot put out poison, the cat may get into it. Any other suggestions. Don't
know how he got in ! all suggestions welcome. thanks Dona
