I'm on my third Reese. Never had a hitch problem with them.

Need advice on hitch for 5th wheel

I bought a Reese 20K hitch, and was sorry I did. The 20K hitch has a single hook (insted of a clam like hook, i.e. two sides). The hook didn't close correctly and we had a bad time with chucking. Reese replaced the top part of the hitch, and now it workes fine.
I looked at Curt and really liked it. I wish I would have bought that.
Whatever you do, do not buy a single hook hitch. Get the clam shell hooks.

I also have the Curt 20K Slider. It is easy in and out of the truck, and is easy to hitch up to the 5er. I have it a year now with no complaints.

Not supporting or knocking either hitch as both are good, but the Reese Pro series hitches do have the clam shell type pin enclosure. Some Reese hitches are better than others.
I've been using a Husky 16k hitch that worked fine for me.
Just bought a used 2011 3500 Denali that had a Reese Pro 20k hitch in the back and it's a very nice hitch..... better than the Husky IMO. So I'll be using it from now on.

I'm reasonably sure that the Curt fifthwheel hitch is a good one. Plenty of satisfied customers here on the forum. But I found their web provided info to be lacking. I just checked their site again, and I still find it difficult to get info on what I would be buying. There is actually more info on the Amazon site than their own site.
Curt 16K I cannot tell from that site if it is a clamshell jaw, or a sliding bar, but I happen to know that it is a sliding bar. It should be clearly stated if they want my business.

On the other hand, Reese makes hitches with both clamshell and sliding bar style jaws. I think they got a lot of bad marks on the sliding bar style, and they didn't do a good job of differentiating the two styles. So it was their own fault. Now they have the Reese site with fifthwheel info, and they have spun the sliding bar style off into the Pro Series. They don't call it Reese Pro any more, just Pro Series Towing. But it is obvious it is still a Reese brand. If you choose Reese, you want one with the clamshell style jaws. Either the base model, or the Elite model.

Here is the Reese site. Reese 16K It is clearly stated that it is "two jaw" locking system.

And here is the Pro Series site. Pro Series 16K It is clearly stated that it is a sliding bar locking system.

You want the clamshell 2 piece jaws IMO. Very few people ever need more than a 16K hitch.

I have the Curt 16K slider and have had this hitch for 5 years - no problems.
It IS a sliding bar type, and I'm not sure what the advantage of a clamshell would be. I did paint the bar white so I could check it after latching just to be sure I was not high hitched (never has). The sliding bar locks well, and I have a lot of confidence in it holding once it is locked in place. If the engagement handle is properly seated, I really don't think the bar could not be locked.

My Curt has a 4 way tilt head which I highly recommend. I don't know if Reese offers this or not. It allows the head to tilt a few degrees left/right as well as front to back. This really helps when the truck is at a different angle as the trailer pin such as unlevel ground. Keeps the hitch from getting in a bind and not be able to hitch properly.

Apparently the 15k and 16k Pro series don't have the double jaws, but the 20k does. As described here at eTrailer. There's also a video on that link that demonstrates all three.
