My generator will not start. I usually start it up every week and put a load on it to keep up maintenance. I missed a couple of weeks and now all I get is a "tic.tic.tic.tic" like you get with a bad battery or loose connection. I checked the battery. Has 13.7v. I usually start the RV engine before I start the generator and it helped provide more starting juice to the generator.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can check next? I dont want to have to take it 80 miles to have it worked on.
Thanks
Russell

That would indicate a loose or corroded connection somwhere. Possibly at the genny itself.

Mine does that also once in a while. Reach back along the left side of the genny and feel around for the cooling blades. You can't see what you're doing. Pull (or push?) on the blades until they turn. Start the generator, hopefully. I don't know what the deal is but it has worked 3-4 times for me. Maybe others can be more enlightening. Good luck.

I used to manage a rental fleet with 40 of these onans in my motorhomes. I repeatedly saw a problem where the generator would click once or twice but not turn over.
THe immediate fix to get it working was to take off the cover, and CREFULLY reach in and grab the blades on the flywheel and give it a tug. After that it would start with no problem.

It seems to get stuck every once in a while.

There used to be a lot of posts about this particular issue and fix here a few years ago.

NOTE: THis is for information only. Assume your own risk.

Check voltage at between the large lug of the positive wire to the generator to generator body (for ground). That will tell you if you have a connection issue.

If voltage is close to the same as at the battery, you don't have a wiring issue. If NOT the same, clean the connections.

I tried the flywheel. I can manually turn it,so ,it does not appear to be stuck. When you say "tug" at it. What do you mean?
I have not checked the connections yet, but, I will.
Thanks

The first time I tried this remedy there was a stiff resistance like in the old days of a car starter getting stuck between teeth and needed to be "rocked out". Other times I just moved the wheel. As stated I don't know any technical reasons, just that it worked for me... Again, good luck..
