I am looking at upgrading my truck, 2003 Silvarado HD 2500, GVWR is 9200 lbs. I would like to know if anyone out there has actually weighed their 2010+ Silvarado 3500 crewcab long box DRW, and 2012+ Silvarado crewcab long box SRW. I know what the GVWR and "payload" figures the manufacturer publishes, but without an actual weight, those numbers don't mean much.
Thanks in advance for any one who has weighed their truck.
You can get a good survey at a dealer lot opening driver's doors. Look for the Tire and loading sticker for as equipped payloads. FWIW, my buddy bought a 2012 Silverado LT 3500DRW and and his payload is just under 5000 pounds. It also rides unloaded and loaded better than his 2003 3/4 ton.

The weights shown on the door sticker are for a bare truck, 150 pound driver, and a empty fuel tank. Not even close to real world after you start adding accessories, real driver and passengers and a full fuel tank.

Brochure payload numbers are useless but the numbers posted in your door post should be right on accurate. THOSE numbers take into account all factory installed options.

No, the weights on the "TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION" sticker are for THAT truck.
IN THIS COMPARISON TEST, each truck was weighed on a CAT scale, and the 2012 GMC 3500 DRW long bed 4x4 weighed 8140#.

I just put my 2012 GMC Denali 3500HD (crew cab long box with dual rear wheels and 4X4) on the scale here and with full tank and two people in it with the gooseneck hitch installed in the bed it weighs 8750 lbs. That was a certified scale also.

The yellow Tire and Loading sticker are for the every passenger vehicle as equipped from the factory. This varies based on trim level, options, cab/bed sizes, and includes all fluids filled (oil, fuel, etc). No people.
Tow ratings are often listed with a 150 pound driver.
You're looking at about 400 lbs or so difference in scale weight between otherwise equally equipped SRW and DRW one-ton pickups. Most of that weight difference is on the rear axle, due to the 2 extra wheels and tires.
Thanks LJPeterson, that is exactly the information I am looking for, and SoCalDesertRider, thanks also.I was estimating about 500 lbs difference, which is probably a little high.
