Great! With only a userid, you get your balances. Why have I been wasting time with companies that also require a password.

If the same sites keep asking for the answers to your security questions, it's likely that your browser is clearing some needed information at the end of each browsing session. I use IE 9 mostly and discovered that I can set it to clear history, cookies, etc after each session EXCEPT for sites that I have in my Favorites.

After user I.D.,it shows balance and pending charges but will not allow me to open either to check and see what they are.

I don't understand how the browser could affect the 2 websites. All the other websites on same computer will open after input of the correct informations.

accsys-works as you said. Every time I open a site from another computer, the secret question is always asked and then I am asked if I am using a public or home computer.

CharlieD, when trying to troubleshoot a computer problem, the more information provided greatly increases the odds of success. For some reason, you can't/won't provide a lot of details - like operating systems, browsers, versions, specific websites, etc. Without details, everyone is just making WAGs (wild a$$ guesses).

So, in the words of the sharks on Shark Tank, "I'm out".

One possibile reason is that the browser cached a login, either from a different user or from before a password was changed. And the browser could be changing the password before it attempts the login. What you could do is clear all the browsers's cached logins and retry. As always, YMMV.

You're out because I won't provide details? Doing the best I can with the little computer savvy that I have. I think I answered all questions to the best of my ability. What questions have you asked that I didn't answer?

I use MSN with Bing. IE-9-One website is HSBC credit card (I use the GM Card) The other is Edward Jones. I have 12 other sites bookmarked as favorites that allow me access as they have always done. It would help if you let me know what you need to know. If I can't provide it, I will ask for your help so I can find the info. you request.

History, cookies and such are not cleared when I close. I do occasionally clear my history and cookies but then when I open bookmarked sites, they ask for user I.D., secret question, password, etc. Some sites allow me to leave the user I.D. filled in unless I clear the cookies. The 2 sites I have problems with always ask for user I.D. regardless of whether the cookies are cleared or not.

This is a new problem within the last week or so.

Lee, changed the user I.D. and password via the other computer but still no luck. I copied/pasted the message that I was receiving on the log on page to my search engine:

Your Account Login
The Username and/or Password does not match our records. If you have forgotten your Username or Password, click on the "Forgot Username / Password" link.

Brought me to a number of suggested sites, only one of which was the GM Card site. Page opens and says "this appears to be the site you are requesting" When I open it, I am back to my oringinal log on page.

Try a different browser.

I was born in Great Falls, Mt. My parents moved when I was 5. I found them when I was 10 - they were in California.

Something to try, may or may not help... I've seen similar to this caused by a cache "feature" in IE9.

Go into "Tools", "Internet Options", "General" tab, "Browsing History" section and click the "Settings" button.

Make sure the first selection "Check for newer versions of Stored Pages" is set to "Every time I visit the web page" to force a reload of the pages (and any others) after you browse.

emiddleb-Changed from "Check Automatically" to your suggestion with no change.

Wittmeba-Changed to Chrome and now able to log on to the sites that I had problems with.

Will have to poke around to get familiar with a new browser. After several years with MSN, I will miss it.

If the browser made a difference it sounds like a setting in your every day browser.

You might go thru the configuration pages and reset the settings to "Default". This might clear up the issue. Then go thru setting a couple at a time to your liking.

Wittmeba-Getting familiar with Chrome. I have learned that it will take me directly to MSN when I click on it. This gives me pretty much the same options as I had and allowed me to download and keep all my favorites which was a concern for me. I have to click on a overhead link instead of having it down the side of an open page.

Where are the "configuration" pages you refer to?
