When on generator, only half of my outlets work. They all work on shore power. When the generator is running, there is no voltage from generator line 1 to load center line1 on the ATS5070. Line 2 generator to line 2 load center works fine. When the generator is off and I'm plugged into shore power I get no voltage from power cord line 1 or 2 to load center line 1 or 2 respectively. However, still running on shore power, I do get voltage from generator line 1 and line 2 to load center line 1 and line 2 respectively. This seems quite strange to me. I'm assuming I need to replace the ATS. It looks like a no-brainer to hook up a new one as long as the wires are correctly attached. The installation instructions for an ATS501 (replacement for the 5070) say the connection screws need to be torqued. Would I have to use a torque wrench on these or just tighten them really well? Has anyone replaced a 5070 with a 501? Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.

is your genny a 240 volt or 120 volt only model.if only 120 volt then it can only feed half of the ats 50 amp box.look on the genset for output breakers,if only one breaker then you have to use a jumper in the ats,if two breakers then check if one is tripped.

Thanks for your reply, Allen. There are two circuit breakers on the generator and they are both in the "on" position and I have turned them both off and back on.

What generator? Brand and model number.

Three possibilities.

1 And this is very much #1.. You have a tripped breaker on the generator as someone suggested up above.

2: (Distant second) Bad connection (check the Generator junction box, it is likely near the generator, mine is in the compartment NEXT to the generator's on the generator wall side).

3: Even more distant... Internal issue with generator.

OPEN THE CONTROL FACEPLATE AND TEST BOTH SIDES OF THE 110 BREAKER,IF NO POWER THERE ....THEN ITS INTERNAL FROM GENSET
