make it go away. too expensive to keep running. if you have the room the newer full size suvs such as tahoe, expedition, or similar half ton truck will get just as good or better milage empty and do better towing that little trailer you have. and the prices arent that much different. i would fully expect that any "domestic" full size would easily go 300k without any major repairs.

Here is one more point. Crew cab pickups cost less than similar sized SUVs with the same equipment. A quality bed cover is $300-1000.

I bought a used Lexis GX470 for wifey because she's always wanted one. I thought it's all just plushy foo foo stuff until she TKO'd a neighbor's brick mailbox and I rebuilt the front end. That thing is built for more offroad use than most other vehicles. Come to find out it has a tow capacity of most entry level 1/2-tons and tows smaller trailers very well. It also shares platforms with the FJ Cruiser so it's designed for some decent offroad use. The spindles, suspension, & shafts are really stout little suckas and the underside is fully skid plated. If aftermarket support weren't so lame, they could've been built into some little hoss without much effort at all.

A Lexus?? Wow. I would sure hate to scratch that up, the way I have scratched my Pathfinder. We go into some very brushy areas -- both sides of my SUV are decorated with "Sierra pinstripes" from all of the twigs and branches that have scraped it from front to back.

Funny that...have had discussions with folks who 'think' they are going to do
some serious off roading...till ask them if they will be okay with scratching
their side panels from the headlamps to the tail lights...

Oh!!!!, why would I do that???

So of course they are never going to be serious off roaders with that comment

Ditto banging up the underbelly rolling/crawling over boulders/logs/berms/etc

Hadn't heard of the moniker 'Sierra Pinstripes', but that is very apt and have
many of them One of the reasons ordered my Sub 'white' and none of the fancy
2 stage paint jobs, as they wouldn't last long and would look worse after a
few trips

A Lexis GX470 is the luxury version of a 4Runner/FJ and is a full ladder frame
'truck' or SUV, not a CUV. My son in law has one and have driven it
on pavement only. It's a solid vehicle and would recommend it

Yea, it's gotta stay away from tree branches. The one I bought is all dinged and scratched from parking lots anyway but I still wouldn't, that's what the Armada is for. When I had the new bumper painted on the Lexus, I actually paid less than I did for the Murano from way back when she wrecked it. There's a reason my Armada is being painted with PlastiDip instead, it's whole lot cheaper and easier to touch up. -lol
