I've taken US2 across these states for several reasons:

- I had friends in Grand Forks (the sugar beet factories in East GF are also memorable)
- I had just passed through Glacier NP
- To use the northern most Federal route
- To get to Riding Mtn NP in Manitoba
- To visit the headwaters of the Mississippi in Minnesota
- To see Duluth and scenic areas around Lake Superior.
- To see Babe the Blue Ox in Brainard
- To see St Urho
