I took it down the road to the I40 & AZ95 junction, works great down there but refuses to work in the campground so I guess its the location and not the device. Thanks for the link to the antennas, looking into them.
Note of caution... If you are looking for an antenna, be sure it can handle the complete spectrum of frequencies that the MiFi uses. The Verizon 3G service uses the same spectrum as their cell phones and that is a dual frequency of something like 800mz and 1900mz (may not be exact, I don't have the specs handy right now). Verizon's 4G LTE service uses a 700mz band. Therefore, be sure to buy an antenna that can handle all three frequencies.
The one I bought is from the 3G store link and will handle all three frequencies.
Also, be sure you are using the current software version for the MiFi. The original version caused a lot of lockups, such as you described. I believe that the most current version is 2.8. I am running on 2.8 and I am not experiencing many lockups.
As far as an amplifier goes, a lot of us are waiting for a tri-band amplifier to come out. Wilson is scheduled to release one this summer.
