Hi, all;

I have an odd question... Has anyone ever had their rig decorated/lettered; maybe even sponsored...and then had issues getting into campgrounds?

We're doing a brain injury awareness & grace cross country tour starting in July. I've had a few companies express interest in sponsoring our ministry, and so I was looking into putting their logos on our rig (which I had already planned to have decorated with vinyl butterflies/flowers with our web site, too). Someone told me that campgrounds wouldn't let such a rig in. Any experience/thoughts about this? Or know where I could get more information/do research on this?

Thanks in advance,
Kimberly

Yes, I have read in some CG rules that they do not allow any advertising or even Co. names on vehicles/RV's. Personally I think it a good idea. I'd rather not see billboard advertising or have anybody's agenda placarded - it would just detract from the experience IMO.

Also, you have to be careful of crossing the fine line with a "commercial" vehicle and the ensuing rules and regulations. There have been documented cases where an RVer had a commercial wrap on his RV and the DOT considered it to be in commercial service. Just think it through very well, before putting yourself out on a limb. Also, question your insurance carrier about their take on "advertising" on your vehicle.

Well, if the x-rated p*rn bus found places to camp, I'm sure you can too.

Yes, I see what you mean...

But what if we didn't do the sponsorships, and just had the tour name on our rig---we're promoting brain injury, not selling anything. Do you think folks would take issue with that?

I wouldn't but I don't know about some of the more Snooty "resorts" out there.
I once woke up to find a huge red double decker bus parked next to us in a CG. They had no markings but it had a large number of very foreign sounding folks on board and each seemed to have a sleeping birth. I would have loved of have found out more about them but they left before I could talk to them.

Yes, some undoubtedly will object to logos etc. on vehicles. Rules are rules, and if you make one exception ....

The information you really need (who may object and who will be alright with it), isn't going to be found on this forum.

Scott, here is a link to what you saw and a lot of info about the tours. We have met several of the drivers and hostess, plus had a tour of the "RV"...

Wow. Thanks anyway. Who ever thought it would be this hard to use your life experiences to try to help others navigate brain injury?
