Just purchased a new fiver and want to get a 50 amp surge protector. I have seen the tech data and prices from each of the two manufactures listed above, but would like some input from the user end of these products as to their performance. Thanks

Had a surge guard and never again, Progressive Industries is far superior and has excellent after sales support something the other is seriously lacking.

The two are a horse a piece. I've seen good & bad written about both so I don't think you can lose with either one.

I have never had a surge guard but have had good experience with Progressive 30 amp and 50 amp surge protectors. Not the fancy ones,just the basic circuit tester/surge protector. No under or over voltage protection.

Whatever you purchase make sure it is multi-function protector that protects your entire RV...if I remember correctly we paid around $300-$350 for the multi-function surge protector we have (50A)...

We had a progressive 50amp surge protector with our TT and it was fine. With our 5er we have the Progressive 50amp EMS. More expensive, but our current rig has too many expensive electrical items to risk high or low voltage park situations.

I have the PI 50 amp hard wired unit with the remote (wired) display and am very happy with the unit and the customer service. After about 3 years it started to develop a humming sound. Called customer service and they gave us some tips on cleaning the contacts. That worked for a short time and another call to customer service resulted in us recieving a new contact board which solved the issue, free of charge.
