I only need a 1/2 ton (19' travel trailer) and would like a crew cab with somewhat low miles.

Any good suggestions? The 09 ram 1500 seams to be the newest generation that falls within my price range. Any others?

I highly recommend 2009+ crew cabs. Ram and Ford for their larger rear seat space starting that year. GM and Ford for their 6-spd transmissions starting that year.. And Ram for the improved power for 2009+. For a 19' TT, any of them will do well and the payload limitations of the Ram should not be significant for this TT. Test drive them all and find the one you like best.

As I stated in a thread earlier in todays local paper I see advertised a Dodge 2012 RAM Quad Cab 1500 for $20,880 and a Chevy 2012 Silverado X-Cab for $23,325. Might want to look at new also.

The truck of choice seems to be a Ford F150 if you pay attention to what is towing on the highways.

I have always preferred the ride of the chevy trucks. But the Fords seem to be better at towing and stopping.

Try test drive while towing your trailer. Find a test drive route that includes a steep grade to go up & down, curves and some patches of rough road.

See bolded text.

Everyone will have an opinion on what's better in the 1/2 ton market; Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Nissan Titan, Tundra all have their fanboys and their haters.

The only opinion that matters? Yours

Drive them all, multiple times if necessary...geek it up, make pro/con lists...get your sig other/family's opinion...by doing so you'll very likely never regret your choice.

1st generation double cab Tundra 4x4 is what I'd recommend in that price range.

I would buy a perfectly clean, 1 owner, never modded, low mileage, documented maintenance 6.0 03 to 08 F series anytime.

For the right price.

As for the Tundra, you get this feature for free:

35 seconds into video.

Trying to buy a truck on a budget involve many compromises, and uncovering bargains where others haven't got there first.

The perfect used truck, with the perfect rep.. is going to cost you.

An excellent truck with a bad rep that need not apply to that particular unit is your best deal --- any make, model.

I would go with either an '07 or later Tundra with the 5.7 and 6 speed, a Titan, or any of the offerings from the Big 3 that are new generation with the 6 speed trans. Any of those will work fine for you. Lot of good choices abound in the 1/2 ton market.
