I would buy a perfectly clean, 1 owner, never modded, low mileage, documented maintenance 6.0 03 to 08 F series anytime.

For the right price.

As for the Tundra, you get this feature for free:

35 seconds into video.

Trying to buy a truck on a budget involve many compromises, and uncovering bargains where others haven't got there first.

The perfect used truck, with the perfect rep.. is going to cost you.

An excellent truck with a bad rep that need not apply to that particular unit is your best deal --- any make, model.

News, you posted a ancient link that never panned out in the real world. Here's a better one for you if you truly want to get educated without any set-up tests:

2007 Tundra SR5 CrewMax 5.7 V8
2004 Aljo 250LT

Any modern half ton will do the job when properly equipped. There really isn't a bad one out there. Pick the one you like best.

I have had several Chevrolet trucks over the years, many of them with high mileage. Can't say that any of them, even as age creeps up on them are unreliable.

I am not in the market currently for a pickup, new, or used, but if I were it would be a Chevy just based on my personal experience alone.

How about a 2006 GM Pickup or Suburban? I can speak to the Suburban and would recommend either a 2005 or 2006. Reason? If you have a moderate weight 19' trailer, one of those with the 3.42 axle will tow it just fine, and in return can get some respectable gas mileage. Our 05 towed our 23' HTT (just under 5000# loaded) very well. Daily driving my wife got 14-15 (mixed city/rural) depending on season and we saw anything from 17-21mpg on the highway, again depending on season and conditions.

One of the other reason I would look at those years is that some of the 05's had stability control and all 06's did. Find one with side curtain airbags and you have one safe and capable tow vehicle.
