I know. Wish in one hand, spit in the other and see which gets filled first. Still I wish there was an aftermarket source that made those fiberglass caps to fit over an older Class C on the front overhang. Sure would stop the number two source of leakage (after the roof).
Looks like that's all they do for the newer ones. Case in point, check out the first two pics in this photo gallery of the Nexus. http://www.nexusrv.com/phantom28p_photogallery.php
Any other wishes out there for an aftermarket product? Maybe some enterprising Joe could get some ideas for a new sideline.
First law of science: don't spit into the wind.
Keep on rollin'!

Why not learn to work in FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) and make one on your own. I have done similar several times. It just isn't all that tough. Maybe messy if you get things wrong, but either hard or expensive.

Not enough time to do something like. At my age, I have to make a lot of trips before I go. Would rather pay American money to an American business who does that sort of thing.

Enterprising Joe does not want to invest his money in a product that he will sell one of.

From the other posts, you're wrong, there is a market for it.
If you can't post something productive and helpful, don't post at all.

There may be a market, But how many different ones would use the same cap. From what I remember not a lot of uniformity in the OEM ones. The major production cost would be the mold and if a lot of molds were required the cost would be sky high.

Simple examination of the exterior measurements of the bunk overhang would provide more info. On the older models of class Cs, there is very little variance in the measurements, nothing that cannot be addressed. Then as now, a majority of the class Cs were manufactured by only a hand full of companies. Thor Motorcoach is one of them and their dimensions on their Ford model bunk overhangs are nearly identical.
There's a market segment in which owners are restoring older models of RVs, including motorhomes. Seems like an American Joe fiberglass business that diversifies into other products as well would find another source of revenue from that market segment.
Worth looking into. We need to support American businesses as much as possible and some come to this forum for ideas to grow their businesses.

Why not take it to a body shop that repairs Corvettes or does custom body work. They should be able to rebuild your cap and make ir stronger.

Magnus,
If there was a market as you suggest someone would have already filled it. A reasonable return on investment is required otherwise it is not considered an investment. It is considered flushing money down the toilet. Business 101 is where this is first learned.

If there is a market, somebody will buy one from you and send it to china to be copied. Then sell it for less than you have in materials.
Been there, done that, not a lot of fun.
