Good question. Nope, I've never used mine, neither in my current fifth wheel nor in my previous motorhome in which I fulltimed 17 years. I can't say why. I seem to get by fine with stovetop cooking and the microwave.

We use our oven often enough to need an oven...if that makes sense.

We make french fries from time to time...cake, etc.

Wow, I can't believe more people don't use a micro-convection oven for baking and roasting! It's a real space saver and cooks faster and more evenly.

We do use convection/micro for some things but still prefer the oven for the majority. Different strokes.

We used the oven, in our Fifth Wheel several times. It was a pain to get down on the floor to light it though.
We haven't used the one in the Motorhome once. I think the tag is still hanging on the handle.
If they would make a minor change to make lighting the oven easier it would get used a lot by many.
We use the microwave/convection oven.
Thinking of replacing the gas oven with a dishwasher if they come down to a realistic price.

Impractical for boondocking...and I have never seen one that would broil properly.

We use it frequently when camping (blueberry muffins- cinammon rolls) and always when traveling. Our kids all agree the best Christmas dinner ever was cornish game hens on the sandy beach in Destin Florida.

We use our oven so much, I just added an electronic igniter to it.

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!

We love the RV oven ... but HATE the lighting procedure. Please explain (w/pictures if possible) where you got the parts, what you installed, and how you installed the parts.

Phil,
This thread provides the information. Great and inexpensive mod if you use the oven.

Tom,

Thanks loads for the link! I bookmarked it for possible future use on our oven.

I wonder why manufacturers of RV ovens don't ship them with this type pilot lighter? Do they know something we don't ... I can't intuitively think of any safety issue with this mod.

Having it installed and using it for quite a while I can't see how this would be unsafe.
Also on my install I used a different location for the ignition button since I wanted to keep the standard stove ignitor intact as a backup. It's so nice not to hear that clanging anymore although I must admit to turning it once in a while just to remember how annoying it was.
Good luck,
Tom
