We took our camper to TENNESSEE RV for repairs after a blowout did damage. They took our camper in on April 3, 2012. We called several times to check on progress of fix as we were anxious to go camping. We did not get calls back from the person handling our service so we went up there. He said he had been on vacation and was not sure, but when completed he would give us a call. Well, no call, no info. On April 30, I called to follow up and see when they think would be ready. He says did you not pick it up? I said, no, is it ready? He said no that they had not even worked on it. He said that they found it missing sometime between between 4/10/12 - 4/23/12. They said they searched the lot for 2 days and did not find it. I ask WHY they did not call us and he said he called once on 4/23, got no answer, did NOT leave message. We do not show a call on this date and we have voicemail/answering machine! WHY NO MESSAGE?? Wouldn't you think it important to contact us??!! They knew our insurance told us to leave the camper with them (which now regretful that we did!) We went there and searched, NO CAMPER. GONE! I ask to review their surveillance cameras as they have signs EVERYWHERE saying 24-hour surveillance. Guess what? NO CAMERAS!! NONE! They of course, accept NO RESPOSIBILITY! They have no resposibilities of ANY CAMPER unless they belong to them even though you have left your camper in their care. Unsure why someone picked ours to steal, except that the Svc Mgr said probably for the aluminium siding! He said they scrapped an old trailer the prior week and got good money for the little aluminium it had! It AMAZES me that someone could just pull up to their lot, hook up a camper and just drive off. I would think they would benefit more by using the camper rather than scrapping it and am keeping my eye out everywhere, but it could be anywhere since they had about 2 weeks before there was even a police report. I think TENNESSEE RV was negligent especailly since they did not let us know, contact the police, NOTHING! They did absolutely NOTHING! I sure would love to have our camper back but according to the police, insurance, etc, I probably will never see again. My insurance is going to handle it, but it does not take the sting out of the situation! We loved our camper and it was OURS! BEWARE ALL CAMPERS - If you need service THINK CAREFULLY of where you take it! We are regretful that we ever stepped foot on TENNESSEE RVs lot especially now that we see they give you a false sense of security that they have cameras and security which obvious they don't! By the way, while were there we found out that they have a huge THEFT problem. They have had the following stolen that we are now aware of: 50 TVs, many propane tanks, motorcycle and our 30' travel trailer! DO THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AT TENNESSEE RV? I THINK SO!!! Were we made aware? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Whoever the scum bags are that took our camper, I wish them the worst luck in the world and hope their life is miserable!
Alot of places look secure with the cameras mounted all over the place, trouble is, most of the cameras are fake! They come with batteries just to make a light blink on and off so they look real. Once the word gets out they aren't hang on to your hat! Easy pickings. Yeah I hate a thief! Mine is in the repair shop right now also. I hope it is there when I go to get it. Once it is back here, my Colt 1911 takes over the security...John
Yeah --- I'll bet you THEY are the thieves.....I'm so sorry you've lost your rig.....but I doubt it was stolen for the alum. siding. Hopefully, because the insurance company recommended the place, you won't have to pay a deductable and they'll give you FULL replacement value. If not, take the shop to court -- even though insurance gets you a replacement, go for any $$ you have to pay out.
Insurance company and a Lawyer, Insurance most likely isn't going to cover the cost of getting yours replaced. A Lawyer to see if you can use the "24 hour security" signs against them to pay up on a replacement.

Any business can post a "Not Responsible" sign, but that doesn't make it so. Now the question is: Is it worth your time and trouble to pursue it? Probably not. Sometimes you gotta suck it up and move on.

This is my concern, based on your description of their behavior I have no problem saying I think they are the thieves.
On Edit: This is a first time poster so I will back up and reserve judgment until we get some more info.
Ok folks, let's not jump to conclusions about who ACTUALLY took jujubee's TT. I do believe that, notwithstanding Tennessee RV's stance (important to know here that Tennessee RV is a Camping World)they are responsible and if it were my TT I would have already been sitting in an attorney's office. Powederman426 has it about right, any one can post a sign saying anything...that doesn't mean the statement has the force of law behind it. It also doesn't mean that Tennessee RV or anyone in thier employ was involved in the theft. And here's why I say that.
My opening statement about who ACTUALLY took the TT stems from my recent repair experience at the new CW in Asheville. The repair experience, the repair work and the repair price were all good. It did not dawn on me until I read jujubee's post about what occurred when I went to pick up my TT. This is what transpired, I went in to see the service advisor, paid the bill and asked where I could get my TT. He said "just drive around the building and there will be a gravel parking area, your TT is there. I did as advised and sure enough there sat my TT. I backed up to it to hook up, I began to check out the TT for any damage and since the work was bearings and brakes requiring the wheels to be removed I checked all the lug nuts for proper torque, and then I checked the tires for the proper air pressure. In total I spent the better part of 30 minutes getting hooked up and checking out the trailer. Now the issue, at no time during the process did anyone approach me to ask what I was doing, to check to see if I had paid for the work done etc., etc. I completed hooking up and drove off the lot.......no one ever challenged me.
It didn't strike me until I read jujubee's post. So, who ACTUALLY took jujubees's TT? I doubt anyone will ever know. Who is responsible is another issue. From a point of pure integrity....CW is responsible. What will Tennessee law say...again who knows.
I would suggest that CW needs to immediately take a look at security of thier property. Perhaps a fence with a gate and a lock around the lot where customer's TT are stored.

VERY VERY good point, Larry - I think what irked me was the "we're not responsible" bit. Yes, I won't hold a car repair shop or an RV repair shop responsible for something I leave IN my car/rig, but I DO hold them responsible for the car/rig itself!!!! And that's a good point about where they "land" the rigs when they're done. hmmmmmmmmmmmm Cars are a little harder to steal (hotwire or key) but a travel trailer....yeah, pays to look those places over more closely.
Another point --- I NEVER leave my car or rig anywhere without paperwork showing that I've left it at that place. I heard of a friend years ago that didn't get his car back because the repair shop denied ever having it. They had told him to leave it in their back lot, by the repair door, with the keys under the mat......and he did. DUMB!
