My Streetpilot C550 went dead after about 5 years. Question is what to get now, been looking at Garmin DEZL 560, anyone have any experience with it, is it a good one?? The C550 was a very good GPS. Decisions, Decisions!!! HELP!!!

The guts of all Garmins are basically the same...(positioning software).
The DEZL 560 is a very nice unit and very feature rich. It is configured for truckers and thus would have a good RV application.
extra loud speaker, back-up camera enabled, special routing avoidance, etc.
Downside is that this model is expensive.
Make sure that you get one with LTM - life time maps.

I went with Rand Mcnally RVND 7710. Don't need bluetooth or extras
but wanting most I could get about campgrounds, state and federal, plus fuel stops.
I have been able to go to POI Factory and download several camping POI's and figure it should show me a campground close about anywhere I go.
I like 7" screen but still waiting on Motorhome to be built( on line now) so I haven't been on the road much with it yet. Headed to Alabama end of month to pick up new baby so will get a chance to use it a lot.

Check with Garmin if you really like your 550. They rebuild their units, with a warranty. I sent in my Garmin Streetpilot 7200 with a broken glass screen. They sent me a rebuilt unit, and kept my lifetime updates, for around $200.

This is interesting as just last week my Tom Tom went a little crazy. It kept telling me in 80 years to turn left, I knew it was wrong and didn't turn. A few minutes later it said in 80 yards turn left again and then in 80 yards turn right, none of which I did. For miles it kept up the 80 yard thing. We finally turned it off.. Later turned it on and it worked fine. When I know the area I am in and know the way it's one thing, but in a strange area that 80 yard business might get me in a lot of trouble. So I to am looking at replacing our GPS.

I used it for about four months and then I offered it on this forum for 1/2 price. No takers but someone suggested that i contact Good Sam's for my money back. They did issue a refund.
The unit IS NOT for RV's. There are no vehicle choices that match ANY RV. They have vehicles like Truck with one trailer, or truck with two trailers, etc. No buses or RV's.
The unit continues to shut off and reboot for no apparent reason. It also tends to route you like a commercial vehicle, rather than through roads that most RV's could fit.
The bracket that holds the unit is about a foot long. Sitting out on the end of this long arm is your GPS. Let's just say that the vibration is terrible on all but a glass smooth road.
You can input a vehicles length, height, width, but trust me, it will make no difference in the way you are routed. This thing took me down a road to a narrow bridge with a TWO ton weight limit. No problem, just disconnect the toad and back up 1/4 mile to turn around.
As I said, if it has been updated and the initial problems corrected, fine, but read all of the reviews and you will see that I am not the only one that was dissatisfied with this GPS.

Actually the operation and internals of the Garmins have changed greatly since the C series. The GUI is totally different, frankly I like the old school better. And the receivers are now running SiRF receivers that are way hotter front ends than previous enabling am to navigate downstairs in a 2 story house... Something unheard of years ago, and anything older than the Nuvi series of the 8 Garmins I have won't do.
Go find a place you can play with them because there are differences in the GUI, even within the NUVI series. If you spend $100, then don't mess with lifetime maps. But if your spending several hundred and think its a keeper, then it's worth the cost.
