For those of us that have loss of hearing and can't hear the turn signals, this may be of some help.

Good info. Thanks
I'm fortunate in that I only lost part of my hearing in certain frequencies, which happens to be the same frequencies as my DW's voice.

I have two things that fix that problem. First off my Ram has a warning loud enough to hear if signal is left on too long. The second is my wife saying can't you hear that turn signal? Duh no. If I heard it I would have turned it off.

After many years of hearing loss I now rely on the visual indicator. I wear hearing aids, but many times on long trips become tired of the motorhome noise . Most of the noise is heard by me as I think a normal hearing person would hear it, but some sounds the hearing aids work a little to good on. Many times as long as my wife is along I turn the hearing aids off. I can hear her just fine, but I have a problem with them turned off of not hearing outside sounds especially sirens. So I depend on her to alert me. I guess my thoughts are if one can't hear the blinker, what else can't they hear (sirens) that might be more important than the blinker.

On my old S-10 truck, the auto-return feature of the turn signal switch was broken on the left turn side and the flasher was very quiet. I went to Radio Shack and got one of their piezo-electric beepers and spliced it into the turn signal wiring.
It was so loud that I had to put a resistor in series with it to quiet it down a bit. IIRC, the beeper was about $5 and a resistor assortment about the same.
GM make the steering column cover in one piece and it threads over the column with the steering wheel removed. To get in there to fix the return mechanism would have required a wheel puller and special tools to hold the light switch and ignition lock so they didn't fall apart. The special tools are dealer-only and an estinmate to fix the problem at the local Chevy store was $250!

This made me laugh. I suspect a lot of us are in the same category. Fortunately a previous owner replaced the stock "buzzer" in our Foretravel (which I understand is plenty loud anyway) with after-market indicators and tone that even *I* can hear.
But in the car it's the DW... especially if I have sunglasses on.

Our Ford chassis came with an audible alarm, that has a 20-30second delay. I can hear the alarm even when my hearing aids are not working that well.

I lost my hearing about 30 some years ago. The Motor Home has all these bells and buzzers. I can not hear any of them. DH is so use to me driving down the road with the signal light on she now always tells me as soon as I make a turn.
