yesterday evening a neighbor's Beagel came visiting. Our dog challenged him becaue he didn't recognize him at first.
To my amazement our cat came from the car port and backed our dog with typical defensive stance. Her dog her buddy. Maybe he thinks he's a dog too.
So nice in the world to day to have everybody part of the family.

Cats are very territorial and more oriented to their tribe than a lot of people imagine. I grew up with cats that would band together to chase off dogs with some regularity.

When our Daughter and Son In Law moved we inherited their cats. This is the last one to survive coyote or whatever. have one in house and she is old and wouldn't tolerate him.
When we brought them home the dog went and found his chew toy and dropped it in front, of them, trying to get them to play. The cats slept in the dog house with him until we got a cat house for them.
Dog and cat get along well. It just warms my heart to see them cooperate and get along like family.
Don't like the idea of cats running wild and killing song birds etc.Until Daughter comes for him he's outside though. A collar and bell is in order as keeping him well fed so he won't hunt.
