I have one large Samsonite suitcase in the Motor home. It is red with my callsign painted on it in large (Like six inch large) blue letters on both sides, Makes it easy to spot at Airports and such.
Normally it contains a couple of recording studios Mics, Mixer, Limiter/compressor, Recorders, Mic stands, More mics and recorders (Total of e or 4 recorging systems,, I truly forget which) Does some very good recording.
But in a pinch.. It is, after all, a suitcase.
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

CaveManCharlie. What you hear on the news is the worst of the worst. Consider how many hundreds of thousands fly everyday. The percentage is incredibly low. For nearly the last four years I was flying four one ways per month between Houston and Columbus Ohio. Went through security about 195 times and was only patted down twice. Once because I flentched while the back scatter machine was shooting me and the other time, well I don't really know, probably looked shady to them.
How I did it was easy. I carried a back pack and everything and I mean everything was in it. Nothing on my person except clothes. In my backpack was big headphones, iPad, phone, camera then other uninteresting stuff. Never had to take any of that stuff out. I carried a portable DVD player for awhile and they wanted that in a separate bin, same with actual laptops. I am guessing it's not the computer but the DVD drive. Anyways it's not as bad as the news makes it out to be, don't get me wrong you do hear some sad stories about how a baby or old vet in a wheel chair was treated and that's just dead wrong but it's small in the grand scheme of it all.

I believe you. I just live in a different world then you. Things are much different in the rural Midwest. I wouldn't be good at getting on a airplane. For one thing I have a beard. For another I would be so nervous I would look suspicious. Oh, and I puke on Marry Go Rounds. Feel sorry for the poor person that would have to set next to me on the airplane while I barf my guts out. lol I can't imagine flying. Heck I've only been in a Taxi a couple of times. I rode a bus once in Minneapolis to go to the fairgrounds for a event because there wasn't enough parking so you parked somewhere else and they took you there on a bus. And, that's about the limit of how much public transportation I've had. lol

I fly a lot and it is not that bad. The main problem I have is security is so inconsistent. At one airport, they almost strip you down to your skivvies, while at another, they just ask you of you are carrying anything dangerous.
I have buddies who have trouble all the time getting BACK home. It seems they work with explosives, but their local airport knows it. They almost have to start a day early to get back home because if there are chemical sniffers at the airport, they will set them off and then there are lots of calls and "soul searching" while the TSA folks try to deal with the only "positives" they've ever got on the scanners.
While we took a 13 year break from camping we traveled quite a bit. Only a few trip have I not been searched or patted down. My camera bag always garners a search and I was even pulled for a random search before boarding in Panama. I guess I just got use to expecting it so when it didn't happen it was a present surprise.
Over seas it can be worse than here. I thought I was going have to tip the guy that patted me down in Rome. He did a ummm very extensive job.
