Hi,

I'll be in Ft. Bragg, CA this June and will leave there heading for Silverton, OR. When I leave Ft. Bragg, I have a few road choices. I can head north on Hwy 1, head to Willits (I've been on this road and it's good), or go all the way over to IS 5. I'm wondering if Hwy 1 going north is advisible with my trailer? I'm 52' long when on the road. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I would go up 101. Hwy 1 north of Ft Bragg has lots of curves and is slow going.

Vote NO on Hwy 1 past Fort Bragg. Did that a few years back, NOT FUN.

I would not recommend going north on Hwy 1 from Ft Bragg to Leggget with your rig. It is narrow, tight turns that will have you over the center line in many places, and very few turns outs, not to mention meeting aa loggin truck in one of those turns. I would take Hwy 20 to Willits, then you could go north on 101 to Oregon, or go south on 101 to Ukiah and take Hwy 20 over to Interstate 5 and then north up to Oregon.

Ditto on going over to 101 and North out of Willits. The travel might not be quite as fast as I5 but the view is wonderful and should not be missed. There are some great campgrounds all along that route. I would love to spend three months over there.

I will add my two cents worth. I agree with all these folks. Definetly do not take Hwy 1 north of Fort Bragg.
