We're taking our fifth wheel to the U.S., then the Canadian Maritimes. We're looking for a good solution to cell and internet service. Also want to access the internet from an iPad and laptop. I see lots of ideas here for U.S. travellers, but any ideas for something that works in both U.S. and Canada? We already have a smart phone from Bell and assume roaming charges would apply for that. Any internet solutions?
I use a Tracfone in the USA and scrounge free wifi wherever I can get it. If we're parked in the US for months, we'll pay for cable internet.
You can get a plan from Bell that covers Canada and USA, but the last time I checked it was extremely expensive - waaay out of my price range.
If you get a stick or a hub for USA use, make sure you know how much data you use. Our typical usage would put a typical stick over the limit in a week - then it's BIG $$$$$$$$$$$$ again.
We are with Bell at home and you're right - the plans can add up. We bought a stick while in Europe two years ago and it suited our needs. Too bad we can't get something for both Canada and U.S. that would do the same.
Think we have decided to try the free wi-fi for this trip and see how it goes before we buy plans or equipment we don't need.
