I'm on my first trip with my new to me Jacob fiver and I have an issue. When the previous owners put up the awning for me they must have rolled the pull strap in and I can't get to it. How can i open it now? I unlocked it but I can't seen to pull it out from the sides. Any tips?

Once unlocked/unlatched....climb up on a ladder or on the picnic table and unroll it by hand. Position yourself in the center of the roller tube. It's awkward to do...you have to unroll and pull out at the same time.

Once you get it unrolled, if the strap is missing, they are easy to obtain and replace.

When you roll it back up, keep the strap in one position instead of allowing it to go back and forth. That will keep enough of the end out to facilitate using it correctly the next time.

X2 on keeping it out when you roll up. However, I have learned how to pull the strap just a bit front or back so that just a small bit hangs out. Keeps it from slapping around while driving. Not much in a 5th wheel, but can be back inside a MH.
