I would like to clean the vents and install an airmaxx vent cover on my TT. However, this would require me to walk on my rubber roof. Is there a safe way to do this and not put a hole in the roof. Thanks.

I crawl on hands and knees...for one reason I hate heights, the other reason is to help distribute my weight. Most if not all RV Builders state the roofs are "waklable" however.

I guess it depends on the roof's construction but our alpenlite has a roof that feels like it is concrete. No soft spots so learn where you can walk or have a plywood with carpet under the plywood and do what is needed to do.

I don't take any special precautions walking all over our small 5th wheel but then I weigh 155 and must admit it doesn't feel all that indestructable.

Just regular tennis shoes. I would not use anything that might contribute to tripping or slipping. Primary concern should be your safety... not the roof. Use a tool belt to carry stuff.

I've been on the roof of my our 2010 Dutchmen 25C-GS quite a bit lately. I've been installing "Dicor" tape over all areas covered with the "Dicor" caulk and checking for any cracks in the caulking or areas that look like they are wearing like under the Winegard Antenna and on then along all the edges of the EDPM roof. I would suggest you clean the roof with a mild soap like Murphy Oil Soap to remove any grit and then kneel on a pad to not grind any grit into the surface. As others have said, your safety is the most important.

As noted, wear good non-slip shoes and watch where you step at all times, DH accidentally stepped on one of the vents and cracked it. Up there is where you don't want to suddenly step back, not knowing exactly where you are!

Not all TT have roofs are designed to walk on. If it does not have a ladder it may not support foot traffic. It is very common in the newer light weight TT. I bought a 2'x4' 2 inch thick sheet of foam insulation from Home Depot. That way the weight was distributed more evenly over a larger area.
