Hi all,
has anyone ever used Nature Zyme tabs in there holding tank?
It says to add 1 tab to 12 oz.of water and add to tank. but not to add any more water. I guess this would be fine if you are camping and using it right away but what if you camper is not being used for a month or so?? Should this product still be add to the tank with only 12 oz of water? I am used to emptying the tanks then adding a little water and a liquid treatment when we get home, can`t remember what one. Any input on this product would help.
Thanks

They call it a holding tank for a reason. Just be sure to use enough liquid to keep it from solidifying. If you need some place your money, you can send it to me.

All you need in the tanks is water. Enough to keep anything from solidifying and enough to "flush" rapidly when dumping. Then run some more water in and dump again if you don't have tank sprayers. No chemicals are needed as this is a holding tank not a septic tank. You might just add some Calgon water softener to help the water along.

If you want to use something, try this:

Happy Camper

I've been using it for more that 5 years and it works well. Also lost of water, can't forget that.

Forget any additive... they're not needed. Keep plenty of water in your tanks and when you drain them, make sure that they are clean of any left over stuff in there. Refilling and draining again will help. Get a clear connector so that you can see if the water coming out is free of any lingering offenders.

After emptying my tanks I put a few gallons of clean water only in the tanks to keep everything moist, been doing that for about the last 5 years and works great. The money I would have spent on additives buys more diesel to go somewhere.

I buy pine cleaner $1.99 at the dollar store it comes in a 1/2 gallon size. I dump about 2 cups in after dumping and add about 5 gal water. The oil keeps things from sticking and the pine smell does the job. It also helps the sensor to stay clean. Been doing it for years and no smell and no problems.

That's an excellent idea as the chems are just deodorizers anyway. I'll bet the pine stuff works as good as anything on the market.

WATER WATER WATER WATER WATER I only use water and lots of it. Every time I dump I put two 5 gal buckets of fresh back in right away. One time with the brown mound was more than enough for a life time. Wife thought the black was full once when I wasn't there so she tried to drain it but only open the valve a little and didn't get it completly closed.

The reason stuff sticks is because the tank is plastic and rough. Using something like Pine cleaner will lube the tank and valves so nothing sticks. At a $1.99 at the dollar store it's cheap insurance. Of course you also need a lot of water to flush it away and should always fill it with water before flushing.
