I am curious about the effect of the Winegard Wingman on VHF Digital TV signal reception. I know that the Wingman enhances UHF digital reception, but does it also degrade VHF digital reception by changing the characteristics of the Winegard Sensar antenna?
I note that with the Wingman attached, I do get better UHF reception, but I do not seem to be getting any VHF digital stations even though they are nearby.

Should have no effect ot VHF, whenever you find one. With a new Sensar IV head, I did see that normal rotation had the same effect on reception as before. However, I do find several VHF stations that seem to have no broadcasting, other than a signal.

Quite a few of the old VHF channels are now in use by communications services and you will see them as a 'signal' with no video when you do a scan with your TV set.

I may have accidentally found a solution for your VHF-loss w/ wingman. Do your scan at night or early dawn.

The Wingman has absolutely no effect whatsoever on VHF channels. what you don't have now, you didn't have before..

Wingman will not affect VHF so as you'd notice.
Though the idea was to get rid of VHF tv, and move everyone to UHF, And then REsell the VHF spectrum, and bids were indeed taken on that.. I have seen Digital Stations as low as Channel 5 on the frequency chart Chan 5 is not only VHF, but it's VHF-Low band (2-6) Oh well, The best layed plans of Men and Government Agencies I guess.

Thanks for the info. After a little more investigation, I found that the VHF digital stations in my area are broadcasting at lower power ratings than the UHF stations which are well received and transmitting at higher power.
It seems my inability to receive the VHF station 45 miles away (with hills) is related to low station transmit power, not the fault of Winegard antenna with amplified Wingman.

They did drop power when we went digital.. That said...
As a Ham Radio operator I have my "Main" Station in the RV, it is a Kenwood TS-2000, 100 watts on HF and VHF, less on UHF and I did not order it with the Microwave option. (But if I did it would be less still).
ON VOICE (Analog) I can talk to most of the Contential US on 100 watts on a good day, about half the country on an average day.
Switching to Digital (PSK-31) I have done about half the world. But I'm only pushing 25-40 watts.
Think about that some time, Same radio (Exactly) Same antenna (100' long wire) only difference is I do the listening with my ears or the computer uses it's "ears" and translates.
