Wondering if the angle makes a difference? RV is a Newmar Ventana. Angle is not level. My old toad was not level either but this is higher?

Level is best for lots of reasons, but as a minimum check with the manufacturer of your tow bar for their specific specs. I know that some tow bar manufacturers will void any warranty for any damage to the bar or base plates if you are out of spec.

Level plus or minus 2" is the standard per their web site.

Readybrute specifies +/- 2 inches in their manual. You can use drop/rise hitches to help level things out. Not sure what the exact specs on your truck are but most 3/4 ton pickups are over 6500 lbs bone dry. You'll need to be careful not to overload the pickup beyond what the towbar is capable of (Readybrute is 8000 lbs).

I am 10" above the receiver on my units. I have a Blue Ox baseplate. I am going to call Readybrutetomorrow and see if they have a baseplate that will go below the bumper instead of through it. That would put me where I need to be. If they don't, I'll put my Audi Q7 on a trailer and pull that until I figure this out.

get a drop hitch and use it backwards (upside down)(the drop goes up)
they make drops every 2". although ti's tough to get one rated for over 5000lbs, but they do exist.

Wow...yeah 10" is a lot, especially with the toad being higher. etrailer.com has some that will fit your needs.

Have you ever considered just picking up an inexpenxive vehicle just for use as a toad and beating around???

Something like an old(er) Jeep GC, Cherokee, Wrangler and etc tow great, are easy to hook up. We did that and were ready to tow for less than 5K including wiring and tow base plate.

Just a thought.
