I tried to unwinterize the 2011 Jayco Eagle 321RLTS 5th wheel today, and the valve handle on the right just turns!! It will not open the valve to let the hot water out. Has anyone had this happen, and how hard is it to fix. This is the one for the water heater bypass.
Thanks,
Greg

Sounds like the handle is stripped, grab the valve stem with plyers. Go east, worth a try.

Happened to me once on last TT. Problem was screw holding handle on backed out a bit. I turned handle slowly while pushing in a bit. Once in right spot, handle slipped down a bit further, locking into slot. Tightened screw to keep handle on. Problem solved. Only thing making it hard was valve could be felt but was real hard to see. Tightening screw took a few choice words about the designers ancestory.

Hope yours is that simple.

Been there too. If I'm correct your referring to the brass bypass/regulator connection at the back of your hot water tank. We had an issue with ours 2 years ago. Winterized with no problem, when we were preparing 5vr for it's first trip the following spring that valve wouldn't open with anything. Wound up stripping the plastic handle. We took it out and soaked it in CLR and that still didn't fix it. Are you sitting? Replacement cost......$199! I just couldn't justify paying that much so since I was already out of warranty I went to Lowes and purchased the fittings to replace that valve with off the shelf parts...total cost....$7.50. Jayco has a great reputation and this was the only problem we've ever had with the whole unit in 4 years, yours is still under warranty, lucky you. Good luck and happy camping.

I think your talking about the water heater bypass correct? You could try pliers temporarily to get it open. you'll probably have to replace the valve for a permanent fix. I will have to look at mine but you should be able to remove the crimps on either end of the valve and put a new valve in and then recrimp. You should be able to get everything at your local hardware store or rv dealer.

My local Home Depot has PEX valves, seem to be a little nicer than the ones in the camper.

Took the plastic handle off of the water heater bypass, found that the handle was not stripped. But the valve inside the pex is broken, outside brass that the handle goes on turn and turns, but nothing happens inside the pex part.

I looked at the ones at home depot and they do not look like the ones in the utility center on the 5th wheel. I need to find the eact replacements

We had the same problem with our 2007 Jayco Eagle Superlite when we tried to dewinterize--the valve kept turning and we couldn't get any hot water. My husband couldn't get the clamps off with his arthritic fingers. We checked out an RV supplier and Home Depot, and couldn't find the exact parts. After a week of no hot water, we finally called a roving RV tech in Temecula, CA, and for $50. he fixed the problem. Sometimes it's best to call in an expert.

Yes it is still under warranty, closest Jayco dealer is 1 hour away. I figure if I can fix it myself for under $50.00 I will make out in the deal with the cost of gas alone.

Just cannot locate the parts online yet.
