We have been shopping for a TT for a while now, trying to find a trailer that fits the following requirements:
- Interior height more than the standard 78" (I am tall and tend to feel cramped)
- Rear living
- As short as possible (max full length including hitch 30'6"
We have narrowed it down to either
- Keystone Cougar 25RLSWE (29'6", dry weight 6172, hitch weight 630, interior height 80")
- Heartland Wilderness 2750RL (30'4", dry weight 5350, hitch weight 475, vaulted ceiling)
We will tow with a Ford F150 Ecoboost 3.73 axle ratio and Max tow package (11,300# max tow and almost 2000# payload)
We are aware that we need to account for people, gear, etc. etc. however we are only two people and light packers. We believe we shouldn't have any issues with the weight. This will be our first TT and we are more concerned with length and sway.
Questions:
- Is there any TT that fits the above 3 requirements other than the ones above that we should consider?
- Any feedback on the Cougar vs. the Wilderness? It appears that the Cougar is better insulated, but then again with all those windows around in both TTs, I wonder how much it really matters...
I can't really help you with your height requirements but I can give you my take on the Cougar. Not long after we purchased it (brand new) I swore that I would never buy another Keystone product. Well after owning it for 3 year's and searching the industry for a replacement, I can't think of any other trailer I would rather have. The only issue with quality that we've really had is with the decal's, but after having the trailer sit out in the sun totally un-covered for three year's, I'm thinkin' that's more my fault.
A couple of thing's you should consider. Look at the furniture that's in the trailer, how comfortable is it now/a few year's down the road? Slide in the bed room, you may not think you need it now but, it won't be long and you'll be wishing that you had one.

take a look at the outbacks with rear living. the latest ones have a radiused ceiling and gain about 4" in interior height. The 298RE is a great floor plan, but longer than you desire at 35' but I think there is a single slide rear living at about 30' overall.
