I have been reading motorhome magazine, I have learned about a lot of destinations that are within a days drive of me, which lead me to see how others plan their itineraries, or do most of you just wing it?

Are there any other magazines any one uses for destination ideas. I know the States have web sites and books.

I usually figure out my final destination, my potential route, and then check Roadside America and/or Visit USA or This Woodall's site to see if there's anything I don't want to miss on the way or anything worth changing my route.
I also have a list of each state's tourism web site, and check those.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

I like state parks for camping so I usually start with stateparks.com. Once you get the basic info, you can dig into it further and find reviews, etc.

I use a combo' of....

RV Park Reviews, Google Map and a massive helping of "cynicism" when reading an RV park's website!

I have found using this combo' has meant that I have never been disappointed when getting to a destination at the end of a day!

I've gotten some great ideas from reading this forum. Thanks for those links above! Never thought about factory tours and just found some great ones right here in NC to visit.

Also from reading fiction novels...read one of Nevada Barr's books and put Mesa Verde on my list last year. Still can't understand how such a great place wasn't on my radar screen before.

Also from packages mailed by state tourism offices. Got so much great stuff from Utah and it helped a lot with ideas.

I buy guidebooks too. Fodor's Utah had excellent itinerary suggestions and RV park ideas.

This year, it's going to be Maine and Atlantic Canada, a "roots" trip to see the tiny town, Tilt Cove, where my late MIL came from.

Am I the only one that visiting family determine our destination? About 10 days ago we left our home in KS to visit a dying family member in Indiana. So thankful to have the past few days with her as she passed away this morning.

Also thankful to know she is spending her first day in Heaven on a Sunday!

For us it's simple, apart from races, it's beaches; actually anywhere with water.
