I talked to a family member at the last Sydney Caravan and Camping Show, about the Kedron products. He said if it is not "bulletproof" they do not include those appliances on their Vans. He gave an example of LED TV's that were known to leak colour, so they stuck with LCD's till LED's got better.
Kedron and the Gall Boys make the MRAP of Caravans. I doubt many TC's would take this abuse.
See the Video at bottom of page.

Careful opening the cabinets as some things might have shifted during the trip.

Robert:

You haven't seen Whazoo's trip report (2 TRs ago) rock-crawling (I mean the real thing) with the Outfitter Apex to the old train bridge then ?

No, but I doubt anyone would tow a Travel Trailer along the same route
There are now quite a few manufacturers producing these IED, RPG resistant Caravans

My Tacoma 4 Banger hauls my TC and a trailer with scooter or Trailer with Honda 3 seater Turbo PWC just fine. I'll use it for the next ten years or so till I grow up, I'm only 52 now, and get a full size Truck & TC, Ha ha!

Although interesting, I don't know why anyone would want to do that. And Lets see the video of him coming back up. Going down is the easy part.

I can see a need for it in Australia, Africa or other remote places but honestly in north America we have so many roads that having an extreme camper set up is way overkill. We do not have to do a lot of river crossings without bridges or the need to run across desolate country for days on end, etc.

That being said if someone wants to give me a Unimog ........................

Thanks for the video link Robert.

Imagine if you dragged your trailer down that gulley in the video only to find the other end impassably blocked . The video of attempting to do it in reverse would be even more interesting .

In truth I am sure that as very experienced offroad travellers they checked the onwards route very carefully before committing, but that is always something that makes me nervous - taking a route where there is no option to back-up if forward progress becomes impossible. Probably also why I would be more reluctant to use a trailer rather than a truck camper. I guess in Australia you have a bit more space to manoeuvre, but in the UK I have taken the truck camper many places where I wouldn't dare take a trailer simply because the clearance is so tight that reversing a trailer back the same route would be impossible.

Steve.
