Thanks....
I have the Fumoto Valve on my DMAX. Yes slower drain than with drain plug. But if oil is warm (which it should be) mine has drained by the time I have greased the front end and removed and replaced the oil filter. Thus it does not add any time to the overall procedure in changing the oil.
where are the zerks? maybe a dumb question but I don't know what needs the be greased.

Hey fellas....it took me all of 3 minutes to look up the recommended torque spec for the DMax oil pan drain plug, and it is indeed 62 lb ft. I had been reading this thread thinking, heck, the torque on old chevy small block rods was around 45-50 lb ft...and those were just 3/8 inch rod bolts.

Upper and lower ball joints have zerks. Each tie rod end has one. Also, where the tie rods join the steering rod (maybe it has a better name).
The pitman arm and idler arm also have zerks. They face up toward the engine and are hard to see and hard to get too. That's all I have found on any of my Chevy trucks.
Do you not grease yours? That sounds like a front end ready to be replaced.

I've only had min for 10k miles (40K on the truck itself). I've had it serviced for oil changed twice. I asked the servicer to lube it.
But I want to be sure. I wonder if it's in the owner's manual?

Okay, at the office and not on the smartphone...the last two were
messed up with fat finger typo's...
Here are better links, but their embedded links to some of my
old forums are no longer valid
How often do you change the oil?
How many grease fittings in 04 GMC 2WD front end
4 ball joints
4 tie-rod ends
2 idler arm
1 pitman arm
1 front drive-shaft <<<<< this one is the 12th only on 4x4's
I have the images for each, but am in the middle of switching over to a new
workstation and slow going getting the other two computers and laptop sync'd...
