I think the only rig you could get non turbo is a van in those years. Almost all 6.5's are non intercooler turbo's. Mine is 200HP stock. IIRC the 7.3's of that year were a touch less.

Yes all the 6.5s I have had are turbos. They only run about 4-5 pounds of boost. My 07 ltz 6.o suburban is a towing machine, but I love having an old diesel I can jack around in. And I only have 1600 into the truck so far. My excursion was clean, and great on the highway but I think this 6.5 could take it for running short trips empty. I did hook up my 30 camper and gave her a run, and was happy but my brake controller was not working. I will have to trouble shoot it.

The 6.5TD might be the GM version of Fords 6.0 Its seems happiness is somewhat dependant on luck and what model year you happen to own. I had a 93 in a 3500 crew cab and an 98 2500 excab. The 93 I sold with 225K. I replaced the turbo in that time. The 98 I traded at 80K and did nothing to that truck. The 98 was a very sweet truck. My experience was good from a durability standpoint, but these trucks just could not pull well enough for what I needed. I made do, but dont ask me what happened when I tried to pull a piece of equipment up the Teton Pass for the first and last time.

Probably 20mph with the pedal planted! The 6.5 was ok if you only expected the power of a gas v6.

The 7.3 in my '97 F350 has 225 or 235 hp. I'm pretty sure a '99-'03 Excursion 7.3 should have at least that much or more hp. I know the 7.3's in the pickups of those years have more hp than my '97.

I have heard good things about his company (never used them and not affiliated with them)

(yep, that is the heath diesel the OP mentioned in his original post)

Thanks, truck has been running great, but today the ac comp froze thus melting down a belt, and needing a tow. I will talk to my mechanic tom, to see about a new comp or a delete??

Started rapidly losing power, running real hot about 3/4 the way up the pass on the Idaho side. I had to do a 5 point turn to head back down the pass with a 20' equipment trailer without getting me or anyone else killed. The next month I bought an 01 Duramax 3500.

Anyone who has run that pass can appreciate what a death wish that was.
