yup. spam is sent out by the millions per day. your e-mail address has been sold and/or harvested a number of times. spammers buy these lists...those that they don't steal...and send out these bogus messages. for a while i kept getting spam about my bank account and a bank account i never had. i realized that since my bank was a major bank with a presence in most states that it was just a coincidence that i received that message. i suspect that's what is happening with you. btw, i too am getting the amazon spam yet i haven't been on amazon in weeks. delete and rest easy.

I am inclined to agree with this.. I get hundreds of SPAM every week, Some of them, are of the "Problem with shipment" or "Order canceleld" or whatever.

Sometimes, if they look legit enough I may open them in WEB MAIL, never on my own machine, and if they really do look nasty, (LIke they are tying to get my personal ID) I may notify the named in the E-mail security office.. Only I notify the GENUINE office, not the fake one.

For example "This is Bank of America, We are having a problem accessing your account, Please give us your account ID and Log in"

Was sent to BofA Security, (The real BofA) As for the jerks who were having a problem accessing my B-of-A account.. I can't understand why they would have a problem accessing it.. I DO NOT HAVE ONE, so it should be no problem at all.

NOTE that was a genuine Phish. Flopped, but I did not make it up.

The problem: Though this kind of thing costs way more than bank robbers, They still put bank robbers on the most wanted list.

ID-Thives.. Well they got to get real bad before they go after them.

A good idea.. If you have any online profiles (IE: Facebook) LIE! That is how I do it. The info on my Facebook profile is FALSE.

I'm running into something new and wonder if anybody knows anything about it. It involves campgrounds with open wifi access. At one campground I used email, accessed amazon, and accessed youtube. I then start getting bogus emails about my amazon order being cancelled and my youtube video being approved. At another campground I accessed email and usps, and started getting bogus emails about a problem with my usps shipment. I can think of 4 possibilities:

1) I have a virus that 4 different virus and malware checkers don't find.
doesnt sound like a virus

2) The campground systems have a virus.
Campgrounds may not have anymore than a router and modem so there really isnt any place for a virus to reside

3) The campgrounds are harvesting and selling the information.
Dont think there would be enough money in it

4) Somebody at the campground is using a wifi sniffer.
Possible, but what would they do with the information collected?

Does anybody know what's behind this?

You can thank Google and Microsoft for much of this. Google is the best there is at this profession. Microsoft makes so much money from Google to allow this, MS will NOT allow you to turn off tracking so it is retentive between sessions. Each time you reboot IE resets to "trackable" so you have to remember every time you start your browser.

When connecting to any WiFi systems unknown to you, ALWAYS use the "Public" protection mode, not your "Home Network" mode.

It might slow the network down but protects you own computer from problems. I have always used Norton in different computers since 2000 without problems. I have an Assus I7 on Windows7 Premium, IE9, and also Google Chome currently.

Thanks for all the feedback. It was a bit freaky to get these spams a day or two after accessing the web sites from campgrounds, especially after never having received these particular ones before.
