I purchased the unit at Camping World. The installation was simple for the most part. I used velcro to stick the readout on the dash just above the backup monitor. I then wrapped some velcro strips, loop side, around the wire at about 6" intervals and put the hook side in a corresponding place on the dash. Routed the wire down the side and then underneath. The hardest part was lining up the plug to plug it into the port. I had a large bundle of wires with very little slack right in front of the port that I had to move with one hand while trying to plug in the unit with the other. All of this while laying on my side crammed in between the seat and console.

You can select what 4 readouts you want on each of the multiple screens so I'm going to start out with coolant temp, trans temp, MPG and engine load on my first screen. We leave for Utah on Tuesday and are looking forward to using the gauge.

think TFT. The tranny temp is a big player in the scheme of things.

I do mpg, mph, coolant temp, and tranny temp. It's fun watching the mpg go all over the place. I have seen 3 mpg's going up a big grade in low, to 9999 mpg's coasting back down. It does help to find the sweet spot for the best mpg's if the terrain is consistent.

Best addition to my Ford SooperDuty Diesel by far! I also use it on all my other vehicles to check for trouble codes or to clear the occasional yellow light on the dash boards!

one screen I like to look at is the "Throttle position sensor" It shows in percent where the throttle is positioned, for exsmple 50 % would be half throttle, 99 % would be full throttle. You can see just how hard it is to hold a steady throttle with your foot, the guage will go up and down according to the little variations in road surface, wind speed, and other varibles. Put it on cruise control and watch, you will see that those variations affect the cruise control and the throttle position will change almost constanly, say from 32% up to 38% and then back to 31% and then back to 32%, then 38%. Kind of interesting to watch just for fun. I always have displayed the Transmission temperture and watch it like a hawk. Enjoy

FYI--------------

I read on another forum that there has been a software update to correct a problem in the mpg readout.
I believe the sofware update ends in .03. Check yours or give Scangauge a call.
Cant wait to get one myself.

LOOK OUT FOR THAT DOG, oooops, poor little dog you missed seeing it looking at that gauge .
Then again, looking at the road steady will put you to sleep & it is not good waking up down in the wood somewhere all crashed up.

I keep mine on Load and MAP (turbo boost). I won mine, so I don't have anything in it. :-)

RWDIII - I have the 3126E CAT.

We are now in Capitol Reef and it was interesting to use the different gauges. So far I like the MPG, Trans temp, coolant temp and have tried several others. Also like the HP, boost and gallons per hour readouts. It's interesting to watch the MPG on a level road. You can see right away when you hit some wind or a slight variation in level. It goes all over the place. I also see a big difference when cruising at 55 vs 60. I'll try the throttle position on my next leg of the trip.

I will look at the software update when I have a better internet connection.

Make sure you update the unit every time you fill your tank for the best accuracy.

Mine was off by a few gallons the first time I filled my tank, and after adjusting the actual fuel pumped into my tank, it has worked much better.
