I took Tioga Pass one time and couldn't believe how long it took me to get to Fresno. The next time I went, I took 395 to I-80 to US 99 and it was equal. It's anybody's guess...I guess if you're trying to save fuel, go Tioga.

If you take 88, my recommendation, be sure to stop at the Jackson Rancheria RV Park

Depends on where you're coming from. The OP is in Hawthorne NV which means to get to 80 he has to go a long ways North, cross the mountains, and then come all the way back South. Also if you went to Fresno did you go out of Yosemite on 41? If so that means you went almost all the way through the park and then back tracked down to the valley and then got onto 41 to go out of the park. Yeah, that's a long ways. You would have been better off taking 120 down to Oakdale and then heading south and picking up 99 and taking it down to Fresno.
