I have a Kohler 2.5CMZ 21RV Generator on my 89 Winnebago Worrier. I was going to change the oil today and the oil plug would not come out. After using penetrating oil, heating it up, and tapping on it with a hammer I decided to get out the vice grips. still nothing and I really tore up the plug.

Now that I have made a mess of things I want to remove it and take it in for a service. My question is can I just disconnect the fuel line or is it pressurized?

why would you remove it....just drive the rv in to the shop. Or get a set of stud removers off ebay for $30 and then buy a new plug

In looking at it, lots of parts look very rusted and corroded. I want to have a more major service than just an oil change since it looks like it hasn't been touched in years. I would really rather bring ther generator in to a small motor shop vs taking the whole motorhome in.

wouldn't think it was presurized, but I'm used to dealing with openframes on the ground...one thing I have done working on old beaters is carefully clamp the line with locking pliers..i'm sure it isn't recommended, but gets it done

Try one more time. This time counter clock wise.

No the fuel line is not under pressure it has an electric fuel pump that only comes on when you push the start switch, There will be a small amount of gas come from the line but it is just what is in the line, Be sure to disconnect the battery before you start your work.

Yes lets all have a laugh at me. I did actually have that thought, However I tore up the plug fully knowing it was a likely scenario. At some point I had done everything I could think of including using the stud removers.

Was not laughing at you just thinking if you had that kind of problems with the drain plug what kind are you going to get into with removing the generator. Right now you can drive it to a service center what happens if you get it almost out and something else happens?
Again was not laughing at you just giving my 2 cents worth
